highlighting a possible healing issue

Both noprobs and I have seen this happen to our own heals, with a frequency that makes it more than an occasional irritant. I suggest reading this thread if you're a tank or healer just so you can get an appreciation of the possible issues beyond 'healers suck lol'

I've noticed something similar while tanking the Fire Mage in gruul's lair:
Sometimes his fireball would not hurt me, even tho the hit is visible in combat log (and therefore SCT). This usually happens when I spellsteal at the right moment his spell hits me. Since this is rather beneficial, and I am not entirely sure it's not just imagined, I haven't thought about it much. Maybe the issue is related?

Sounds like a threading issue (race condition) with health tbh. So yes, I'd see those as related.

As Blizz programmers have achieved to add race conditions to several other things in the past (like with the WSG flags), it is not too unlikely to look for the problem in that area.
Would be kind of hilarious if something as important as health changes are not properly thread safe.

That sucks to hear, hope they fix it fast. How can you play when healers can't do their job properly. It would be like that warriors suddenly can't block anymore

I can understand that Blizzard has problems reproducing or fixing such stuff. Race conditions are a bitch to reproduce.

Oh, and I also occasionally survive hits far bigger than my health pool by ice blocking. This might be latency based tho.

same happens with vanish, a timed vanish have saved me from hits over 11k in the old AQ20 abub fight. the 11k hit was in my log but i didnt die.
i guess its just a latency problem (or concurring actions) and giving the advantage to the player and not to the mob.

I've noticed this too. Happened quiet alot that I visualy see my heal land, my log displays it but the person still dies without getting the heal. I've been thinking about this for some time, this is a sync issue that comes with the mmorpg I think. Since milisecs count in certain situations that realy sucks and I think even blizz could do very little to avoid this.

This issue is different: Your heal lands, but the tank does not die, he just doesn't get healed.

In most situations thats the same dust.

over the last 2 nightbane raids I've had this happen 4-5 times (out of maybe 1000 heals).
God its annoying now that I can see it happening clearly.

If your heal lands late it's a lag issue. But if it doesn't land at all it's something else. The first is simple lag, nothing anyone can do against (besides optimizing and building some kind of synchronizing protocoll).
The later is probably something along the lines of a race condition, or a locking issue.
