Some dude found watermarks in his screenshots, giving away all sorts of info about his computer and user away.
Blizzard can see easily who posted certain screenshots this way. Creepy, no?

I checked my screenshots out of curiosity, sure enough, the watermark is there.
Makes me wonder what else they report from within the client to HQ directly over the internet...

I always wondered, whenever I got to be in alpha or beta testing, how they would make sure the screenshots I made would be traceable back to me. Apparently this is how, and maybe that is even the main reason it was developed in the first place.
I accepted a few NDA's that would result in perm bans whenever I would leak info about alphas to the public.

This technique reminds me of the one used to trace money forging, with small yellow-dots marks in printer output.
